Lock fields for copy & past
« on: July 20, 2007, 02:03:30 PM »
Is it possible to be able to lock a field, or exclude it from the copy & past command.

I would like to use {filename}, or even a naming string such as {iptcyear2}{iptcmonth0}{iptcday0}-{iptchour24}{imin}{isec} in the Object name. I would like to do this at ingest as part of the stationay pad.

However, when editing later I often use the copy and past commands, this copies the all the IPTC fields, including object name, and pastes it into the new photo, overwriting the previous object name data, which was unique.

Is there a way to protect a certain field from change, or choose a field not to be copies when using copy & past commands in the IPTC window?

I'm not sure I understand you, but can't you accomplish what you want either by using the lightning bolt (save a set) or the plain IPTC stationary?  There you can set the fields you want to use.
