Adjusting Highlights and Shadows
« on: March 29, 2024, 04:11:10 AM »
Hi, can you give advice on how to adjust shadows and highlights in an image? I sometimes need to adjust shadows and highlights on an image. I ingest the image then launch it to Photoshop where I (if necessary) I adjust the shadows and highlights. My question is how do I save the edited image to Photomechanic. Regards,

Conor

Hi Conor,

A Photo Mechanic Contact Sheet for a folder will display all the images in that folder. So if you process a file in Adobe Photoshop, you can save that file back to the original folder for it to show up in Photo Mechanic.  PM will view JPGs, GIFs, TIFs, PNGs, PSDs etc. so format shouldn't be an issue.  (If you save the image in Photoshop to a different folder, you can also open up a different Contact Sheet in PM to view it there.)

In Preferences > Contact Sheet, there is a checkbox setting "Rescan on resume" -- when this is checked, Photo Mechanic will automatically rescan for new files in that folder, but if not, you can always use the keyboard shortcut  (/ on Windows or Cmd-/ on macOS) to do a manual rescan for new files.

More Contact Sheet prefs are explained here:

I hope this helps.
