SmugMug Video Uploads
« on: December 18, 2025, 06:20:37 PM »
Looks like SmugMug uploader silently ignores videos at the upload stage.  It does, however, copy them to the internal cache.  Since videos are usually quite large, you see the uploader spending a lot of time and space to do so.  It would make sense to either skip videos and warn the user that they are not uploaded, or actually upload them.  For now I have to manually drop the videos into the galleries created by PMP with the SmugMug's own uploader...

We should be sending JEPG thumbnails of your video files unless you have RAW storage enabled on your SmugMug account, then it will try and send the video file.

The Photo Mechanic log file may have more information about why it failed. You can get access to the PM log file from within Photo Mechanic's Help menu and choose "Reveal Support Data...". When you're composing your reply use the 'Attachments and other options' link and select the PM_log.zip file to upload.

Actually, you don't need a RAW account on SmugMug to upload videos.  You can upload unlimited videos up to 3GB each.  PMP simply does not do that.  Something on the web said that PMP is using an API to upload photos that cannot upload videos.  I've assumed this is by design.  It never uploaded any videos for me.  SmugMug's own web uploader uploads everything.  If you meant to upload videos, I'll see how to generate a support log.
