Unable to remove folder or Update Folder Location from catalogs

Hi,
I seem to be unable to remove some folders from some of my catalogs. Here's the error message in Catalog Status when I try this operation:

The situation seems to be that at some point, I changed the name of the external SSD that was /Volumes/PRO-BLADE from PRO-BLADE to Ed PRO-BLADE. So the mount point changed from /Volumes/PRO-BLADE to /Volumes/Ed PRO-BLADE.

So some of my catalogs which had folders that were on PRO-BLADE and are now on Ed PRO-BLADE seem to show most of the correct folders in their new location... Ed PRO-BLADE/Pro-Blade Pictures/... But some of the catalogs seem to still contain folders (with no images) in the old location... PRO-BLADE/...  And If I try to either remove any folder from the PRO-BLADE folder on down the tree, or Update the Folder Location of that folder, Nothing seems to happen and the errors above appear.

I finally "Forgot" and then re-created a new catalog for one of the catalogs behaving like this, but I am unable to move collections from the old forgotten catalog to the new catalog because that functionality doesn't exist currently (hopefully, though, yet and not never).

I'd rather not re-create my catalogs to resolve this issue if at all possible.

Hopefully this makes sense.

Any suggestions?

I had exactly the same problem.  Browse by folder path shows green for a bunch of paths that no longer exist locally.  And those folders in the Browse mode cannot be removed.

Catalog Status showed a bunch of errors of the kind, paraphrasing, unexpected path tree update: image not under /Volume/Old_volume.  But I wanted to update Old_voume to New_volume exactly because I moved the images from the Old to the New volume.  Even worse, when I renamed the Old_volume to New_volume and back and then removed the old volume from the Browse path, the new volume folders disappeared from the catalog!

There seems to be bugs in the Update Folder Path and Remove Folder code in the Browse by Folder Path mode.

After some more experiments, as detailed in the thread Experiments in Updating Folder Location, I've found that having the source paths online allows to Update Folder Location to proceed.  It worked fine for me where I had both external drives for the old and new paths.  It did not work for a folder that was moved, where no source paths remained valid.

That seems to match my experience. In my case, I had renamed an external ssd — outside of PM — and since I’m still storing photos on it, and now have the majority of the photos on it cataloged under the new name, in the new location, I can’t really rename it back. People don’t rename drives often, but I can totally see other PM users with external ssd’s or other external usb drives more likely experiencing this.
