FTP EROR MESSAGE 553
« on: March 19, 2026, 07:35:47 AM »
I am receiving an error message while trying to ftp upload with photo mechanic ----

"failed all attempts to rename file for dropbox transfer. 553 can't open that file: permission denied"

this is the filename of the jpeg:    03302025 Twins at Cardinals0942.jpg.  Image attached below

There are no special characters, its not particularly long, and why in the world is the error message referencing "dropbox" ?????'

I am able to successfully FTP the client from my LAPTOP using the credentials they provided, but I cannot do it from my DESKTOP (an iMac) with exact same FTP credentials....

Thanks, Tim

Hi tvizer,

Please email our support team (support@camerabits.com) screenshots of the FTP Uploader settings on your laptop and desktop so that we can compare them. The screenshots should show the destination path as well as any renaming string.

It may also be helpful if you enable upload logging on both the laptop and the desktop and attach those log files in the support email as well. At the bottom left of the FTP Uploader window, select "Save upload logs to folder" then select the "Choose..." button to the right to choose a folder location to save the log files to.

Thank you,
Maury

Just want to add to this that "dropbox" isn't referring to Dropbox, the file-hosting service, it is referring to the concept of a dropbox (a destination you can drop files into).
