Save photos as & NEF files

Is there a way "Save Photo as" can be applied to NEF files?  I realize PM does not render the raw data, but it could simply use the embedded jpg as the source image.

You can use the "extract JPG from RAW" tool for this. (this does exactly what it says though and does not allow for resizing etc.)

Yes, I know this, but it is a step I would rather avoid.
