new Nikon D90

When I insert the card from the D90 Photo Mechanic
does not launch. When I connect the D90 camera to my mac
with the cable it doesn't recognize the camera either.
The CF card from my D700 is recognized immediately.
Do I have to set something in the preferences?
I'm shooting a wedding tomorrow and was looking forward
to using both cameras.

Use a dedicated CF Card Reader.  It will work much better that way.  Faster, more reliable and they don't tie up your camera.  They're fairly inexpensive too.
