V4.5.3.1 EXIF Shutter Speed problems with Nikon D200
« on: February 22, 2008, 11:22:05 AM »
I don't know if this is a regressive bug, but I recently took some long exposures of 4s and 30s with a D200, generating NEFs.  When I do an extract to JPG, the 4s exposure displays as 3s and the 30s exposure displays as 0s.  Anyone else seeing this?

Kirk- please send me a PM with current instructions to forward examples, if you need them.  I have both NEFs and the resulting JPGs waiting in a zip file.

Neil

Neil,

This was a bug.  When we extract the JPEG from a RAW file, if you want the Exif information then we have to "manufacture" this Exif data (we don't just take the Exif block from the RAW file for various reasons).  When the exposure was longer than 1 second, we weren't correctly creating the exposure time "rational" tag.  This will be fixed in 4.5.3.1.

Thanks for the heads-up!

Just a note of thanks... Kirk contacted me today to download a fixed version; I guess an interim release, which seems to fix this minor problem.  You guys are great!  Can't say enough...

Neil
