Updating thumbnails
« on: June 23, 2008, 01:01:08 PM »
Is there a setting (perhaps in preferences) where thumbnails can be automatically updated after editing without having to refresh?

thanks

When you switch back into PM from your external editing application PM should automatically rescan the folder for changes.

Nope!, hence the thread. Is there a setting to activate this?

No.  It just always does this when the application is resumed.  Are you sure you're saving your changes back to the same folder?  Are you overwriting files, or are you saving as a new file in your editing application?  What application are you using to edit your images?  What kind of images are you working with (what is the file type)?

I'm using JPEGs

I open one in Photoshop, make changes Save & Close.
It doesn't then update the thumbnails.

Another Photographer told me his did?

Are you saving to a new filename?  If so, is it going to the same folder as the one you are viewing in Photo Mechanic?
Instead, are you saving over the existing file?

Neil,

Are you highlighting the thumbnail you changed when you go back to PM. My thumbnails always update when I return from my external editor. All I do is highlight any thumbnail or make PM the active screen.

I'm saving over the existing file. If I press Apple / then it updates, but not on its own.
PM is active.

Are you switching back into PM before the file finishes saving in your external editor?
