Saving & loading metadata

In PM 4.5.3.1, when I save an .ipt or .xmp metadata file and then load it into another image, the caption appends itself to the end of anything previously written in the caption field.
I haven't used this feature much, but I am reasonably certain any existing caption used to be overwritten in previous versions of PM.
I have searched the prefs but can't find any overwrite option.

I think I know what your problem is. In the IPTC Stationery Pad there are check boxes next to several of the fields- including Caption. If this box is checked it adds to, instead of replacing, any existing text.

Oops! (blushing) Used to be the check box decided if the field was to be written to at all.
Must have checked it by force of habit.
