Hi Kirk, what would you think about a feature like "Remember open tabs..." or "Remember session" akin to Remember folders... ? Which would save what tabs you have open so you can automatically open all the tabs later. Either it could save them the same way as Remember folders do, that is in the Favorites sidebar, or as a menuitem - whatever would seem best to you. I would prefer the Favorites way. It could also either replace the currently open tabs or not.
The rationale:
1) I am working on a large project including photos from many many folders months apart - e.g. World Press Photo. I have about ten folders with photos which I want to select photos from. As it takes several days or weeks for me to finalise the selection, I would like to be able to return to my folders without having to write down the paths and open them again and again I start Photomechanic, especially when I need to work in PM on my daily assignments. I could have several such "session" favourites in my sidebar for different projects, when simply keyword or rating searching would be impractical. Now, all I can do is open a new window for daily work and keep the project window minimised, which of course increases memory usage greatly and I can't restart the computer for e.g. updates and only sleep it.
Especially if the project is on an external drive which I don't want to keep plugged in all the time!
2) For some folder based workflows, where I have several fixed folders which get reused every time with new photos. E.g. I could have Work folder, into which I Save as my soft cropped selects for later editing in PS. I could have several such special folders and would like to be able to open them all at once without manually finding each of them, in addition to the opened folders I am currently working on. Especially with the all the new clever Save As... features coming in 4.6, I can imagine this could be handy.
What do you think? As you have the tabbed user interface in place a long time already, this feature I think be natural for it - think of web browsers' similar feature for saving your current session with all the tabs.
Thank you, Frantisek
