renaming file back to original name after renaming
« on: March 29, 2009, 05:30:52 AM »
dear programmers
after renaming files you should make it possible to rename files back to the original name as in tools with the date and time. it would help in cases of need when file names should be traced back to the original shooting moment. thank you regards giancarlo

Giancarlo,

dear programmers
after renaming files you should make it possible to rename files back to the original name as in tools with the date and time. it would help in cases of need when file names should be traced back to the original shooting moment.

Earlier in your workflow, just apply an IPTC Stationery Pad with the variable {filename} in one of you unused IPTC fields.  I often use the Object Name: field.  That way I can always see what the camera originally named the file.

I use the exact same method but in the Transmission Reference field. I have mine set to apply automatically during Ingest using the Local Stationary Pad vs. the Global one which I actually use to caption. It has come in handy numerous times when I mess something up and need to "look back."
