PM crash with two Preview windows

Hello,

i use PM to ingest my Pictures and to send them via ftp. I am using the ingest feature just for a short time now, before that i used Downloader Pro. But now i have the Problem that sometimes two Preview Windows are open an when i use then the ftp dialog PM hangs and i could only kill it with the taskmanager. This problem only occurs after ingest with an open preview window then you could open another one i think.

What OS are you running?  What version of Photo Mechanic are you running?

Ups sorry i am running 4.4.3.2 with xp pro including all service packs and updates till now.
On a hp nx 6325 notebook with an turion 1.6 ghz cpu and 1024 ram

Can you give me step-by-step instructions on how to reproduce the issue?

okay,

first my ingest dialog is set to open contact sheet after ingest.
in windows xp  the autoplay is set to ingest or open the card if it is put into the reader

i use pm to send live from an event so sometimes the preview window is open also the ftp upload control screen.

so i put a new cf card into the reader and the ingest dialog pops up i ingest the new card, after this i say close and then i am able to open a new preview screen. and when i start to send a new file via ftp pm crashes and could only be killed via taskmanager

Do you mean to say that you are getting a crash on exit, or are you experiencing the exact same issue as Philipp with two Preview windows?

If it is a crash on exit, we know about the issue and we think we have solved it.  We will be releasing a public beta of 4.4.3.3 later today that you can try and see if it solves your issue.

How is it that you are opening two Preview windows?

After a new ingest into the same folder i can open a second preview window besides to the one which might be open and when i use the ftp dialog pm hangs up.

Maybe you should impliment a routine which closes preview windows before an ingest.

In the beta (which is available now, see the Announcements section) I have added code to prevent the Ingest dialog from coming up while the Preview window is open.  I cannot just spontaneously shut down the Preview window, because you may be cropping or using Save as, IPTC Info, etc. during that time and that would be very irksome if whatever you were editing were just ripped out from under you.  So I just prevent the Ingest dialog from automatically popping up.

Try the beta and see if you can reproduce the issue.

Hello Kirk,

i haven't tried the beta sorry, but in the final version ingest isn't proper working. I have just ingest a cf-card an opened a previewwindow, there i have noticed that the previewindow isn't longer show in the taskbar. When i now insert a new cf-card with the still open previewwindow pm is shuting completley down.

okay i haven't uninstalled the previous version.

Next Error with 4.4.3.3 ;-(

when i use ftp all other windows form PM disapear.

Now i have uninstalled PM and after a reboot installed new. But the error is still there.

Just to let everyone know, all of this has been solved on the final release of PM 4.4.3.3.
