Keywords adendum - global?
« on: December 25, 2010, 06:58:29 PM »
Hello;

I have just keyworded using PM around 1500 images.  Each image has slightly different keywords

I have just discovered that I need to add 2 generic keywords to the all the 1500 images.

Is there a method to automate this?

It scares me to have to open each image separately and add the 2 generic keywords.

Thank you,   WilloW

Select all of the images
Open the IPTC Stationery Pad (Ctrl-I in Windows)
Press the clear button at the lower left
Put your words in the Keyword field
Check the "+" checkbox to the left of the Keyword field
Click the Apply Stationery to Selected button

If you're nervous about doing this the first time, just select 2 or 3 images to try it on.

Thanks Mick.

Yes I'm nervous - how did you guess.....   So I'll try on a few images first before I try to add to 1500 or so.

Hi;

When I add the additional keywords they get added to the END of the string.

Is there a way to add them to the BEGINNING of the string?      ???

Thanks,   WilloW

Yes, do the same as before, but add you new keywords in the blank Keyword field, followed by the variable {keyw}. This time check the main checkbox to the left of the Keyword Field, instead of the "+" checkbox (Otherwise you will duplicate you original keywords). Again, try one or two images before doing the whole batch.

Cool Bananas - Thank you - it all works as you said it would ;)

I was worried I'd have to everything again - I'm relieved.

Mick,
Thanks for the valuable tip. I decided to do the same with some pictures (about 1500) I took in 2008 and was wondering how to do it.
Best regards,
