Corrupt Card or PM problem?
« on: March 21, 2011, 11:56:46 AM »
This issue has happened twice in the past month on two different cards.
All the files appear to be fine in PM.
Suddenly it won't allow me to click the box when I'm editing (I usually check off the
ones I plan to delete). So I continue on to the next image and finish editing.
When I ask to see those images I've selected they appear, but once I try to delete
them, each box I hover over turns entirely gray. I restarted the program and all the boxes
I've checked are there, but again, it won't delete them.
When I open them in PM on another computer, the images I've checked to delete are there with file
names, but no image and no boxes to check. When I try to copy the entire file (all images), it
gives me a copying error message once it gets to the first imageless file name.
What's going on? Is this a corrupt card? If so, why can I see the images and why is it just wigging out
on my deleted images? Is it PM? Please help!

It's hard to tell without having access to the cards themselves.

Are you editing on the cards?  If so, please do not do this, ever.  Always Ingest (download) first and then make your changes with the images on your hard drive.  And once you've downloaded your images from the card, always format the card in the camera before using it again.

Thanks, Kirk -

I've edited directly from the cards for... seven years now without incident! Sure, a clearly corrupt card appears once every blue moon, but this one's very bizarre! Yes, I always reformat once it's back in the camera. I'll try downloading next time, although during a wedding, I don't have the luxury of time to download the whole kit and kaboodle. Thanks.
