Revert TIFF based RAW to orginal problem
« on: April 28, 2011, 03:18:44 PM »
I was trying to edit some D3 & D300 nef files from Oct., 2009 and they caused NX2 (2.2.6) to crash.  The files had not been edited with NX, but had been modified by whatever version of PM was current at the time.  Thinking it might be PM related (shame on me), I tried the "Revert TIFF based RAW to original" and that in fact solved the problem.

With nearly 400 photos affected, I wanted to save the IPTC info, including GPS.  I tested on one photo the option to backup the IPTC data to a sidecar file.  It did of course create the sidecar file, but it did not include the GPS data.

Interestingly, if I create a sidecar file using the "Update IPTC/XMP" tool (after setting my Preferences to always create a sidecar file), then the gps data is included in the sidecar.

So it appears that the sidecar created during "Revert TIFF based RAW to original" excludes GPS data while when using "Update IPTC/XMP" it is included.  They should be the same, right?  Or am I doing something wrong?

Using PM 4.6.6 Windows 7 64 bit.

I would think so.  Let me check into it and get back to you.

[EDIT: there were differences and we're working to eliminate them.]
