IPTC Capture going nuts
« on: August 28, 2011, 12:32:36 PM »
Hi I am adding IPTC info for a TV show, I didn't understand what was happening but but the caption is showing every IPTC I was adding through the day instead of the one I load. I had about 10 different combinations and now my files can't fixed at least a couple of folders. Even though I fixed the IPTC and applied it is not showing the changes in get info. I see it in PM but even with a restart and emptied cached files, this is frustrating.....

Need your advice  the pic is only a short amount of the info....

You were probably using the IPTC Stationery Pad with the append (+) check box set on the Caption field and then applying the IPTC Stationery Pad to your selected photos.  If you have individual captions you should use the IPTC Info dialog (you click on the 'i' button that appears over the thumbnail when you mouse over it) instead.

The IPTC Stationery Pad is for bulk applying metadata to a selection of photos and it only shows its internal contents, not the contents of selected photos.  The IPTC Info dialog shows/edits the metadata for a single photo.

No damage has been done to your files and the situation is easily corrected by just using the IPTC Info dialog on each photo that needs cleanup.

HTH,

-Kirk

Hi Kirk,

You're right but I was batching a ton of shots... when it was happening the box that the captions go into only stays one size even if my screen is large and I simply didn't see below what I could in the box. I know there is a scrolling bar but its so small and I was under so much stress I could or didn't notice it.

I'll have to take a look at that but my biggest problem was (yes I could fix it) but I could not reload the files into the Gedi system that the company uses via globaledit.com that's why this created a huge problem for me.
