Can't Mount or ingest camera
« on: March 06, 2012, 12:29:22 PM »
Hi • My Canon L20 hooked up via USB cannot be seen as mounted by PM. is there a way to mount it as a source disk? The scan button doesn't seem to do anything to find it. I saw a post that says I must use a card reader. Nonetheless, just wondering why it won't mount. Is it something to do with recognizing Canon or Nikon software? My iPhoto recognizes all cameras, it seems. Is there an explanation and will we ever be able to ingest straight from a camera? On this eMac computer I have Mac OS X 10.4.11 and PM 4.5.4
Cheers Bob

Photo Mechanic only ingests from cards that mount as a disk.  In general this requires the use of a dedicated USB or Firewire card reader.  Some cameras have a mode where they can act as a disk and PM will ingest from those cameras when operated in this mode.

It is likely that your camera doesn't mount as a disk and therefore PM does not see it.

Hi Kirk • Many thanks for this clarification. You've probably saved me lots of time trying to fix something that can't be fixed. Cheers. Bob
