Odd problem and PM crashes?
« on: May 04, 2012, 03:39:58 AM »
I have experienced a number of crashes recently with PM which is a bit of a pain. Using V 4.6.8 on PC with 4 Gb RAM and Windows 7 pro. I have PM on my C: drive and also have a D: drive. Cache is on D: but I now have a lot of images on C: as well as D:. However, both still have plenty of space. Any suggestions?

I also have noticed that I am now finding jpg files which should not exist as my digital cameras are set to record RAW only with no jpg created. My scanned images are always TIF and don't seem to be affected.

Frank,

I honestly have no idea what would be responsible for your recent spate of crashes.  Disk space is not likely the cause of them.  I suggest contacting our support folks for direct support in troubleshooting your issues.  Please call them at 503-547-2888 after 9 AM, PST.

Thanks Kirk, will  contact support but I am starting to think it may be related to my system.

Can I also ask is it possible to use a variable to indicate the length, in pixels, on the longest side of the image?

There is no variable that returns the longest side.  There are variables for the dimensions of the image however.  What are you trying to do?

I have been asked to supply an agent with images that need to be at least 3000 pixels on the longest side. I want a quick way of seeing that on the contact sheet without coming out, going into photoshop, open image, file info, size etc.

Frank,

Just set your Info Text to have the following in it:

Image Dimensions: {x}, {y}

Then turn on the Info Tool Tips (Image menu) and when you hover your mouse over a photo the dimensions will appear.  You can also see the dimensions in the Info panel in the Preview window.

HTH,
