Crazy ingest issue

For years I've been ingesting cards via Photo Mechanic with no issues. Have a crazy one that has cropped up. I acts like it is starting to ingest, but then thinks it's finished and ejects the disk. This only happens with usb or firewire card readers, when I use an express 34 card reader (MBP OSX 10.6. it's fine. I can also drag the photo folder from the card to the HD with no problem, it's only when I attempt to ingest with PM 4.6.8.

I thought maybe it was a port problem, but being able to I drag and drop a folder of photos seems to blow that theory.

Thought I would add to my post above, while I never use Lightroom 3, I just tried ingesting with that and it worked fine.

Are there any errors reported by Ingest?

No errors reported, ingest task window shows as normal (not the red box anyway) and disk is unmounted. I also unselected unmount after ingest box, same result -- acting as if it's ingested but without unmounting.
