Object characters truncated after saving

I'm inserting a short description into the object field right after I import the images into Photo Mechanic 4.4.2. When I work the photo in Photoshop and save as another name, the characters are truncated to three. If I just work the photo in Photoshop and do a save, it's fine. Any ideas on cause or ways to work around? It's a hassle to work the photo before captioning.

I'm using Photo Mechanic 4.4.2 on Mac OSX 10.4.11 and editing in Photoshop CS2.

I know of no workarounds for this issue in PM 4.4.x.  PM 4.4.3.3 is the last of that series so you may want to update anyway.  It is a free update.
