Slow folder opening

I'm have the feeling that PM5 is taking longer to open various folders. My preferences haven't changed from previous versions as far as I know. Here's an example. I have a very large folder of 2,800 files which are mostly JPEGs and it takes 30-45 seconds to open. Does this seem right? I use a Mac and Lion. The images are NOT on an external drive. Thanks - Mike

When you say "to open" do you mean before any thumbnails appear at all?

Yes, before any thumbnails appear. The name of the folder appears at the top of the contact sheet then it's a wait. I'm worried there may be a setting that's not right.

Whatever it is, it's consistent. Just tried it again. Closed the program, then reopened and File>Open Recent> Same Folder  same result 40 seconds before any thumbnails appear.

Update: I just switched my OS from Lion to Mountain Lion and that has solved the slowness problem!
