deleting does not work

if preference "Move photos to Trash when deleting"

is set:         deleting photos does not work,

is NOT set: deleting photos does work

Under what circumstances?  Local hard drive files?  External hard drive files?  Server volume files?  Do you have write permission on the files?

They are hard drive files with users write permissions.

If I delete a file of the contact sheet the files thumb disappears but not the frame. In the finder the file still exists.

The issue seems to be solved: there were some problems with the user's trash(directory) permissions.
