windows explorer drag and drop with subfolders
« on: November 08, 2012, 06:01:06 AM »
Since i have so many network volumes on servers (and "disconnected network drives" to fool lightroom into thinking the drives are local) the navigator makes PM run so slow (not responding) as to be unusuable.

The drag and drop method from windows explorer works fine but is there any way to get it to open the items in the dragged folder and it's subfolders as well at the same time?  If we want PM to open both folder and subfolders in the same contact sheet are we forced to use the navigator or is there another option?  Thanks.

No way to force drag and drop to work that way.

Instead, I suggest adding the drives you do care about as Favorites and then do your navigation from there.  The Favorites pane only shows items you add to it.  You can drag and drop items from the Navigator to the Favorites to add them.  Then uncheck the Navigator from the View menu.

What may not be totally obvious from what Kirk suggested is that you can also have a set of folders saved as a single favourite. Simply open all folder you'd like in a single contact sheet and add it as a favourite.

Hayo is right.  It's not immediately obvious how to do this though.  Use the "Remember folders" command on the File menu to create a multi-folder Favorite.
