Batch Object Name Change
« on: January 28, 2013, 08:07:11 PM »
I made the mistake of applying an IPTC Stationary Pad to a folder of images without checking off the OBJECT/FILE NAME field so it changed all of them to the information that was typed there. Is there a way to batch change it back to my original file name? Please let me know. Thank you in advance.

No, not unless you know what the original name is.  If each of them had their own name then it would be impossible unless it is stored in some other field or you can derive it from other data.

I figured out how to do it. I opened the IPTC Stationary Pad and unchecked everything EXCEPT the OBJECT NAME. I then typed the following variable {fbas} and applied it to the images. It then put the name of the file back in the field correctly.

Ah, good.  I thought maybe you wanted the original names and you had since renamed (people often store the original camera-named names in Object Name) so there was no record of them.
