Automatically Clear Stationery Pad on Open?

Is there a setting to have the stationery pad automatically cleared when opened? I realize it's only one button to hit each time, but it would be even quicker when using it in append mode.

No.  It would be far too dangerous of a feature to add.

Indeed, and in many (most?) cases you may want to have (part of) the previous fields set the same anyway (eg., copyright info). Perhaps a keyboard shortcut for the clear all would help (I don't think there's one now)
