Cannot ingest using usb cable
« on: January 27, 2014, 10:37:20 AM »
Hi I cannot ingest using usb cable. OK using card reader. Using usb cable worked in the past, Canon firmware update installed on my camera. Could this have anything to do with this issue? If so how do I resolve it. Thanks in anticipation Stephen

Unless your camera's card mounts as an actual drive, PM won't ingest from it.  You'll either need to figure out how to get your camera to mount its card as a drive, or better yet, use a dedicated card reader and free your camera up from that task.

Canon 1DX using two cards and both show as drives on my pc but do not appear in the "source paths" area. Camera constantly displays "busy" when connected via usb cable. Hope this additional info will help resolve my problem Cheers Stephen

Please post a screen shot of of your Ingest dialog.  Use the 'Attachments and other options' link when you're composing your reply to this message and there you'll be able to upload your JPEG format screenshot.

Thanks,

Hi, capture 1 shows the ingest dialogue box. capture 2 shows that the pc is seeing both cards in the camera. Thanks for your patience Stephen

Stephen,

Thanks for the screenshots.  Your camera cards are not mounted as a disk.  They have no associated drive letter.  You'll either need to figure out what settings in your camera or drivers on your computer makes the cards mount as a real disk (are assigned a drive letter) or use a dedicated card reader.

I know this isn't the answer you are looking for, but a good CF card reader will be much faster for downloading. It might be less hassle in the long run.
