Reducing to Jpeg - understanding the numbers ? (RESOLVED)
« on: February 27, 2014, 03:45:44 AM »
Hello;

I am trialling PM V5; however, seem to be having difficulty understanding how the reduce image size (Jpeg) should be read.

In the older version of PM it was easy - KB and MB.  In V5 it's a tad different.  Furthermore, it's difficult to select anything in-between the 1-10 tabs

I typically resize images to 850 on the long size at 50 kb.

Can someone please explain how to read the new version.  Is it possible to change this ?

Thanks,   WilloW

Hi Iain!

I would go the way shown in the screenshot attached.
Tick the box to "Limit file size to:"
You define the long side of the image (850 px) and the maximum file size (0.05 MB is like 50kb).
Move the slider to the most left.

What PM does: It will increase the quality for the images to the maximum possible with your other settings.
You have to play around with them. If the images are not at the file size you need / expect: In this PM can not decrease the quality any further.
