Help! Small preview sizes!

Alright, first time here, let me try to do this right:

I am running V5.0, build 15800 on Windows 7x64.

I want to be able to cull my photos after I convert them into .DNG but Lightroom's conversion seems to strip the raw files of their .jpg preview despite rendering 1:1 previews in lightroom. When I open the contact sheet in PM to cull, all the previews seem to only be loading the thumbnail (see .dng_1 and .dng_2) which is about the size of a stamp.

As long as I keep my files in their native format (in my case, Canon's .CR2) I have no problem culling beautiful and quick preview 1:1 .jpg (see .cr2_1 and .cr2_2).

How do I cull .DNG files that have a 1:1 .jpg preview?! Can I have my preferred format upon import without having to worry about an inability to use PM after I've gone over to .dng?

Is Lightroom doing the DNG conversion or are you using the DNG Converter tool?

Lighroom's doing the conversion... Wait a minute...

Does
Library>Convert Photos to DNG>JPEG Preview: Full Size

Give you a different result than

Library>Previews>Build 1:1 previews

?

(Re)converting the .dng files to .dng with "Full size JPEG previews" absolutely does the trick.

Let this stand for others out there who maybe, hopefully are having the same problem!
