Link number to code

I have a large number of photos tagged with the rider number e.g. '123', '234' etc.

I would like to link this number to the code generator in order to get the name, race group etc. so that number 234 becomes: 234, Bob Jane, New Your Marathon, Olympic Distance

Is this possible?

The photos are already tagged with number e.g. 234

Thanks - I am familiar with the standard use of codereplacement and are using this all the time. I have however just started using a program that can tag the photos based on the BIB number that the program will identify on the photo. The program will add what it see e.g. '123' and place this code in the keyword field as '123'.

I would like to link '123' with the code replacement file e.g. '123' becomes 'name', 'club', 'event' or whatever I decide in the text file.

I assume that I will have to extract the IPTC field to a spread sheet and then link the numbers to the codereplacement file? e.g. as in a database.

Can you configure the program to add your codereplacement identifier to the beginning and end of the BIB number?

No - there is no room for modifications

If the BIB number is the only thing in the keyword field:
set up you CR file with BIB (TAB) the Rest You Need

and then put (assuming you CR identifier is "#") #{keywords}# into the caption field. This should do the trick.

Hi Sven - I have tested your suggestion and it works fine, however this is not what I need.

As the number is being 'placed' in the keyword field by another program, I cannot add the CR identifier. All I have is a number e.g. 123.

Is it possible to get CR to work without the identifier?

I guess I may have to take the IPTC data to an external editor or spreadsheet and make the link between the number (123) and the codereplacement UTC-8 text file?

With Sven's solution, you need no CR identifier in the keyword that is entered. So I'm not sure what you mean...

If I leave the delimiter box empty - PM will automatically revert the value to the standard delimiter (\). I assume that you want the delimiter box to be empty?

Let the other program add the BIB number into the keywords field. Then just apply a "blank" IPTC stationary with only the following thext to the images and you have the information out of your CR file in the description / caption field or wherever you want to have it..
