Vuescan writes metadata that PM can't see but Lightroom can?

How can I get Photo Mechanic to show ALL embedded metadata? Example: I use Vuescan to scan slides into JPEG files. I configure Vuescan to write some text into the "Description" field. When I open Photo Mechanic and look at the JPEG, I can't see the text anywhere in the EXIF or IPTC data for the image. When I import the same image into Lightroom, I do see the text. Is there a way to see all metadata fields in Photo Mechanic?

That software is writing to the EXIF Description field which PM does not edit.  Is there a way to get the software to write XMP metadata instead of writing only EXIF data?

I know Vuescan can save output as DNG as well.  Have you tried that yet?

Briefly, it depends on how Vuescan's  author has implemented DNG, but hopefully he has placed the image metadata in the DNG in such a way that Photo Mechanic can see it, e.g. into DNG's XMP space.
