"Does Not Contain" and "Is Not" possible when Searching?
« on: March 30, 2016, 12:31:30 PM »
Hoping this is a simple feature request:

Possible to add "Does Not Contain" and "Is Not" to this drop-down list? (Attached screenshot is from Searching in PM on OS X)  Those options are already a part of OS X's Finder and would be SUPER useful to use in Photo Mechanic as well.

Thanks for considering and for building this fantastic application!  The more I learn the more I love it.

The Spotlight-based search features are going away in favor of our own Catalog/Search system.  There will be no further development on the Spotlight-based Search features.

Ok good to know.  Thanks for the quick reply!

Very excited about this upcoming cataloguing feature... Sounds like it will be a great addition to PM!

Kirk, stop teasing us... I keep trying to put the catalog feature out of my mind!

Hello,

In the meantime, I've found a workaround:
- assign a unique keyword to the portrait pictures
- search for this keyword
- select the searched pictures
- save the selection (as a text file, ok)
- go back to my (unsearched) contact sheet
- load the selection from the text file (browsing for the text file)
- invert the selection with `select others`
- yay!

Do you have better?

I tag all pictures, I search 'contain…' and untag selected. Pictures tagged are what you want.
