File Uploader: Selected Uploader not sticking

iMac 27 running 10.10.5 PM  Version 5.0, build 16765

Started to use File Uploader. Selected Uploader not sticking between uses.
Tried command u and menu to open.
Reverts from SmugMug to FTP every time...

Thoughts?

You're using the command key shortcut that specifically brings up the FTP template (FTP Photos as...).  You'll have to use the one that brings up the generic upload dialog (Upload...).

Command-Control-U is the key shortcut for Upload... which is the command that restores the last used template.
