The copying process before upload to Photoshelter takes long
« on: April 26, 2017, 01:14:45 AM »
Dear Photomechanics,

I am uploading 320 Canon 1Dx MK2 JPEGs and the copying process before the upload takes so much longer than before.

320 files maybe 3 minutes for copying and it stucks like a memory problem

If I there are 1000 files I have to do it in several steps.

Where could be the problem because normally that works quick and with a lot of files.

Iam on OSX 10.11.6 with PM Photo Mechanic Version 5.0, build 18327 (5034d39) and 32 GB RAM

What could I do ???

Regards Dirk

Is the disk that contains your Photo Mechanic disk cache nearly full?
How big is your Memory Cache setting?  More isn't better--make sure it isn't larger than 256MB.

Hi Kirk,

the PM Cache is on a external SSD and there are 50 GB free space.

Here is the screensot of my settings.

( I am not sure the screenshot is working)
Disk Cache Size 191512 MB
Reserve at least: 1000 MB
Memory Cache 1024 MB

I will come home this weekend with a lot of files on 4 CFast Cards to check out your recommendations.
Also I will see how the Lexar Reader is working with 4 Cards on my MBP.

On my iMac it will something wit free space.

Regards Dirk

At the very least, reduce your Memory Cache size to 256 MB.
