Dell XPS 13 UHD & small checkboxes/controls
« on: December 01, 2018, 07:42:27 PM »
So I switched from mac to pc, and now have a Dell XPS 13 (9370 UHD 3840x2160 touch) with Windows 10 and can hardly use PM. The controls are too small to be usable.

I adjusted the HiDPI compatibility settings (properties -> compatibility tab -> HiDPI -> system), and that got the controls the correct size, but that broke zooming. Going to 100% became 300% or so. I reset it so that no boxes on the HiDPI panel are checked.

So to make sure the zooming was actually 100% I made a images sized jpeg (6000x4000) and put a screen sized box on it (3840x2160) then zoomed, and made sure the box filled the screen. (imagemagick: convert -size 6000x4000 xc:gray -stroke red -fill tomato -strokewidth 5 -draw "rectangle 100,100 3940,2260" screenbox.jpg).

So with 100% zoom confirmed to be 100% with the default dpi settings, the controls are small and I don't see an app setting to fix this. The "High DPI Display Quality" preview pane setting mentioned in the user manual is not there (I'm using build 19720).

The attachment shows how small the controls are.

Is there any way to fix this?

Not that I know of, but you can click on that large text label that follows each of the radio buttons and that should act as a click on the radio buttons/checkboxes as well.
