Assuming that you've answered yes to my second question, this is interesting.  We'll see if we can reproduce the problem on our end.

Sorry Kirk, I hadn't read your second question. No, I did not try it. But if it could be useful, I'll do it

Yes, please try a still-image-only folder to browse.  Also, it looks like you're running 10.14.1 and there is a 10.14.2 update available from Apple.

Here is the freezing:

https://we.tl/t-jZKKNCoEs3

Sequence is:
- turned on the macbook
- inserted CF in the card reader
- copied all .mp4 in the mac
- opened iMovie and imported the videos
- exported the final video
- quitted iMovie
- opened PM

My Mac can't play your movie.  I'll have to try on a newer system.  But in the meantime, did you try to browse only still images with PM5 in your test, or did the contact sheet contain some movie files?

I installed iMovie on my macOS 10.14.2 MacBook Pro, created an iMovie project, imported your movie into it, saved it out as a new movie, quit iMovie, and then launched PM5 and browsed a folder full of various still image formats that PM5 supports.  Speed was fine, previews loaded quickly.

If you're not running 10.14.2 (I saw on one of your earlier posts that you were using 10.14.1) then please do that upgrade.

Beyond that, I'm not sure what can be done to solve your problem.  Perhaps there is something wrong with your new system.

I never had a problem with PM. All was always lighting fast.
Few days ago I bought a new macbook (I am a Mac user), an Intel I7 with 16gb of ram.
PM on this macbook is really slow when I scroll the pics, never happened before.
It often freezes while I am reviewing the photos.

Can you help me?
I was also having similar issue but thanks to the thread i could pin point my issue and solve it. Thanks to everyone.

Regards,
Shane

I think I solved the problem...

The guilty is... firefox.

I noticed that when PM is freezing firefox is always open. If I quit firefox, everything is fine

FWIW I run PM on a MacBook Pro 15" 2015, macOS 10.14.3, with Firefox v65.0.1 and have never noticed any freezing or slowdown with PM.

For example - while I'm typing this on Firefox (with a few browser windows/tabs open) I can also use PM to browse a folder of 20,000 JPGs which reside on a reasonable MicroSD card, or a folder of raw files on the internal SSD etc., no slowdowns or freezing.

It's great you've found a possible resolution to your problem, but it's not a universal incompatibility; maybe something else is at play.

Me too, with all my old macbook's.

All the troubles are begun with my new macbook.
