Tif displaying with reversed tones only in PM6+
« on: April 30, 2019, 03:55:55 AM »
I have a number of old family photos scanned as .tif files. All display correctly in PM6+ save for three—which display correctly in Xee, Preview and Capture One but with tones reversed in PM6+. I'm running beta 2 on macOS 10.4.4. I attach screenshots showing one of the scanned images as it appears correctly in the three apps mentioned and as it appears in PM6+.

Can you perhaps share the two tif versions of that image? (i.e. the one that doesn't exhibits the issue, and the one that does)

Sorry, perhaps I was insufficiently clear. There is only one version—which displays differently in PM6+ compared to the other apps mentioned. I attach the original image.

Edit: strange that it doesn't display, however you should be able to download and examine it.

Interesting! I found the cause of the file showing inverted in PM. This file has a non-standard Photometric Interpretation (that is, the values for Black and White are reversed). The problem is  that PM does not seem to take the Photometric Interpretation into consideration when displaying the image.

@Kirk, does my analysis sound reasonable?

Yes. You're correct.  I have fixed the problem and the next build will have the fix in it.

Many thanks to both of you for getting to the bottom of that!
