Lost Collection
« on: April 18, 2021, 12:10:00 PM »
When I opened up the organizer panel in PM6 Plus, went to collections and found it was completely empty. All their was the button CREATE. In the body was "Default". It was empty. Is it hidden somewhere? I had quite a few photos in there. Thanks in advance.

Can you post a screenshot of the Organizer with the Collections tab selected, please?  Use the 'Attachments and other options' link when you're composing your reply to this message and there you'll be able to upload your JPEG format screenshot.

Thanks,

-Kirk

John,

I attached the screenshot. Hope this helps.

Thanks.  I'd like to see your Photo Mechanic log.  In Photo Mechanic Plus go to the Help menu and choose "Reveal Support Data..." and moments later a Windows Explorer window will come forward with the zipped log file selected.  Use the 'Attachments and other options' link when you're composing your reply to this message and there you'll be able to upload your zipped PM log file.

Thanks,

-Kirk

John,

It seems that your catalog no longer exists at the following location:

C:/Users/John/Documents/PM6 Plus Catalog

Did you move it?

John,

No.

In that folder, is there a "catalog.pmdb" file there?

Kirk,
There is no "catalog.pmdb" in the folder. Also I noticed that the tabs in the organizer panel is empty except for what type of ratings. "stars", "color tags" etc. Can't search. etc.

That file is the catalog.  If it's not present anymore, the catalog is lost.  How do you think this condition came about?  Photo Mechanic Plus won't delete a catalog unless you ask it to and it will make you confirm your desire to delete and when it does delete, it would also delete the folder such that it wouldn't be left behind.

Kirk,
I don't remember deleting the file. I looked into my trash file to no luck, since the trash had a few items in it. Did a clean not too long ago. I guess I will have to rebuild the collection. That will be fun. Will I have to reinstall PM+ to get the proper files back? Thanks.

No, but you should "Forget Existing Catalog" on your catalog and then create a new one.  You can do this in the Catalog Management window (Catalog->Catalog Management...)
