Need to move catalog files to external HDD
« on: March 01, 2022, 03:40:12 PM »
Please is it possible to move my catalogs from my laptop drive to an external hard drive - they have grown too big to keep on my laptop internal drive ?

Alternatively can I reduce the size of the internal images to the minimum whilst keeping all the metadata intact ?

Using PM+ on a MacBook Pro with OSX 10.10.5 Yosemite

Many thanks. MW

Yes, it is possible, but there is another option.  You can move just the proxies to the external drive, and keep the catalog databases on your fastest internal drive.

See the Proxy Storage section in: https://docs.camerabits.com/support/solutions/articles/48001179060-catalog-management
and reference the "Location for External Proxies" in: https://docs.camerabits.com/support/solutions/articles/48001156772

This should free up a lot of space on the internal drive of your MacBook Pro.

Kirk. Thank you very much again. I will look at doing that.
