Problem with Sony A7Siii using PM to view videos
« on: November 19, 2022, 04:31:30 AM »
Hi all,

I've been using PM to import and rename video files from my Sony A7Riii for years, works perfectly.

I've just got an A7Siii and I don't see contact sheet previews, I can click one open and I see the actual video and it plays fine.

The contact sheet previews are black with the text "File Error Contact Sheet Rescan needed".

Is this something I can fix?

Thanks.

Dominic

I'd like to see your Photo Mechanic log.  In Photo Mechanic go to the Help menu and choose "Reveal Support Data..." and moments later a Finder window will come forward with the zipped log file selected.  Use the 'Attachments and other options' link when you're composing your reply to this message and there you'll be able to upload your zipped PM log file.

Thanks,

-Kirk

Here you go Kirk, thanks for your help.

Thanks, Dominic.

The videos are failing to decode when decoding stills.  Can you post a small (short in duration, can be just a video of the wall/floor) sample video here please?  Use the 'Attachments and other options' link when you're composing your reply to this message and there you'll be able to upload your sample video.

Thanks,

-Kirk

Short clip attached below.

Thanks for the file, Dominic.  QuickTime Player on my development system says that "The file is incompatible with QuickTime Player".  Does your camera offer the ability to choose which format/encoder is used to record video?  If so, have you tried any of the other options?
