i'm not in the US so your business hours are different to mine... i can take that call tomorrow if needs be. I'm GMT time.

And the issue is definitely with SD cards.... i just can't figure out a work around for it. I've tried formatting the cards on a computer as well as the camera and that didn't work.

Since I use CFX and SD cards I just ingest all and then use the pull down and select tagged and this only shows tagged/locked images in contact sheet from all cards ingested. This also save me time on having to D/L the card again for non tagged images for 2nd edits.

I see you work as a sports photographer. I generally upload live in small batches so how do you suggest getting around the duplicates being uploaded? It's not feasible to have to keep formatting cards every time I upload

My issue is that i have to get two action pictures out within the first 20 minutes of a game, then more at half-time. Then another lot during the second half and the rest after the game. So as you can imagine both issues are causing me huge problems. The first being the full ingest and the second which is the duplication of images!

Since the SD cards seems to not recognize the markers set by PM for incremental ingest I have to format the card to avoid dupes, no problems with CFX cards for incremental ingest. Next, 2nd ingest is into a different folder same title (a,b etc)

Incremental Ingest data is stored locally on your system.  Only a small file is written to the card (to identify the card until it is reformatted) and unless the file cannot be written, Incremental Ingest should work fine.  There are no markers written to the card.

Are you saying that Incremental Ingest doesn't work on SD cards?  Is your card locked (write protect tab set)?

Kirk,  I have tried this on Lexar, Sandisk and ProGrade SD even with incremental ingest checked it still will ingest all images. I have not problems with XQD or CFexpress just SD.  Fortunately I don't use SD very often.

Which camera make and model do you have?  What disk format does the camera put on the SD card?  Which OS are you using to run Photo Mechanic?

I have used D780, D500, Z6II. I just use format in camera. Ventura before upgrading to Sonoma 14.1

Would you be willing to turn on some ingest logging and then reproduce the issue (double downloads of existing files) when Incremental Ingest is on?  Then provide the log file to us?

Thanks,

-Kirk

You need to enable additional logging and then you need to reproduce the issue to get a log that has helpful information.

To enable additional logging, quit Photo Mechanic, download the attached ZIP file, unzip it, and place the 'PMDebug.txt' file in the following location:

//      Windows:
//         C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Camera Bits, Inc\Photo Mechanic\
//      Mac OS X:
//         /Users/<username>/Library/Preferences/com.camerabits.PhotoMechanic/

Once you've done that, reproduce the issue. Once you've reproduced the issue, go to Photo Mechanic's Help menu and choose Reveal Support Data. Choose 'yes' in the dialogue that comes forward and then send the PMlog.zip file that it brings to to support@camerabits.com
