Very slow-not responding every thing I try to do

Hi
Just uploaded PM 6.0 6784 in the hope that it would run better than the previous version but not so. Anything I try to do locks up with a 'not responding message'.I love PM-its an essential tool- but I am getting ever more frustrated because it takes ages to do anything as I hit the not responding message over and over. Please advise.
