Browsing Nikon Z8 files over USB cable connection

(1/1)

Gremlin:
Is it possible Photomechanic browse the files from CF Express/SD cards, directly from the camera, connected to Macbook Pro via USB cable ?

Whats camera settigs to apply ?

Thanks in advance,

 ;)

Bob Russell:
Your connected camera would need to mount as a drive volume before Photo Mechanic will be able access the images files on the memory card. Our Nikon cameras do not mount as a drive volume on any recent Mac OS.  A card reader will let you access the image files on your memory cards. You can use Ingest or the Copy Photos utility to save the images to a local or networked drive.

If you drag the card volume icon from the Desktop to Photo Mechanic's Dock icon, then Photo Mechanic will open a contact sheet tab for each folder of images on the memory card. The Command-t shortcut will select all of the Tagged images in the contact sheet to quickly access the best images in the folder.

Gremlin:
Thanks much for quick reply Bob,

My idea was just to avoid card readers - mount camera disks as drives on my Macbook Pro via USB cable connection, and browse in Photo Mechanic as any other external drive.

Exact what Nikon NX Studio software do.

Is there a chance to add that functionality to next build of Photo Mechanic ?

Thanks and regards,

 ;)

Bob Russell:
No, this feature will not be added to the next Photo Mechanic build or any build coming out in the next few months.
