Missing Files listed in Catalog Sync
« on: August 24, 2024, 02:34:37 PM »
Every time I do a full Catalog sync, I get the same list of 21 missing files (attached).  I finally decided to explore and found those files all in the place they are supposed to be (as noted in the "Missing files" list).  Just to be sure, I selected those files, opened them and worked with them in the normal way, then ran "Scan to Catalog" again.  Then did another CATALOG SYNC, and they are still listed as missing!  What is going on?

It's quite likely that the space character at the end of your folder name "IMAGE ARCHIVES " and also the space character at the start of your folder " 37-1937" are the cause.

Remove the above spaces in the Finder, remove the missing items from the catalog and then re-catalog the files and I expect the problem will be gone.

Kirk, your 2024 response to my question about missing files (13,733 of them) is likely the cause of my not being able to make a copy of the files (using the "Copy/Move" feature) found from a single keyword with which Maury has been helping me.  This is major, as my filename system (which is the year/month or film roll in which a picture/event took place) puts a space in front of the filename of everything before 2000, and 2 spaces before everything in the 1800's so that all the files will appear in chronological order!  Fixing this will take forever but it can be done (Catalog has over 110,000 files). Appears that PM+ cannot deal with random spaces for some of its processes.

Jon,

Unless you have a lot of collections, you are probably better off with fixing the filesystem quirks and then making a new catalog.
