Filter by IPTC / EXIF Metadata in Browser / Sheet View
« on: March 21, 2025, 02:20:43 AM »
I would like to see a feature added to filter by IPTC / EXIF Metadata in Browser / Sheet View.

Not sure if this is possible in Photo Mechanic +, but stars and colour just isn't enough.
Best in a way like Lightroom does it, in a upper menu or Capture One in a side menu.

I'm not sure whether that is possible in a Contact Sheet, but with Photo Mechanic Plus you can definitely browse IPTC, EXIF and more:

Hope that helps

Filtering is what is being asked for, which does exist, but the other users are asking for more IPTC and EXIF fields to be filterable.

Here is the current documentation for the Filter system in Photo Mechanic Plus:

6 months later and still you did not add more EXIF data fields to filter/ sort by.

When do you add them?

You asked all old customers to pay for new licences to be able to add more features. This sort feature with more EXIF data is requested now for several years again and again by many users. Just search your support forum and follow the above links.

We have explained IN DEATAIL what are the most important ones with screenshots etc.

So I payed today again for a fresh licence, but NO improvement on one of the most requested features at all. What are you doing?

sorry, but I am really pissed now...  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

You play with the money of your customers. You overpromise and underdeliver.

You ignore what your customers want to have for years now. Do you really expect to survive longterm with that strategey? There is more and more competition out there, but you sleep.

So what is the exact timeframe for these features?

If you do not have a solution to add a few more exif data in that list (which is really not that hard to do) within the next 6 months, I want to have my money back today!  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

First, we didn't promise to add the requested feature. Not to say that it won't ever happen, but we cannot possibly add every single thing that gets asked for. We are a small team and have limited resources for development. It is unlikely that we will get to this particular feature in the next few months.

Next, there are many avenues you could take to find out if we added a feature before making a purchase: You could ask on this forum, you could email us at support@camerabits.com or call us during our business hours (where you'll almost always get a live human to talk to or a call back if you leave a voicemail), begin a free trial to test out changes and new features, or you could read the release notes, available in the posts we make for each and every update we put out in the Announcements forum and the readme that you can find in the installer for every new build.

Finally, if you are unsatisfied with your purchase, please contact support@camerabits.com, as we handle anything to do with sales through email.
