Lost Ability to Drag Tabs to New Window
« on: June 03, 2025, 12:38:46 PM »
Hi I'm on an M2 Mac running Photo Mechanic Plus Version 2025.1, build 8239

We seem to have lost the ability to open a new blank window of the application then drag a tab from the first window to the new window. This was something I could do on the old non Apple Silicon version. Thanks, Simon

Simon,

Hi I'm on an M2 Mac running Photo Mechanic Plus Version 2025.1, build 8239

We seem to have lost the ability to open a new blank window of the application then drag a tab from the first window to the new window. This was something I could do on the old non Apple Silicon version.

I am able to move them from one window to another on the Universal Binary version of Photo Mechanic 2025.  Could you record a video of you attempting (and failing) to move contact sheet tabs between contact sheet windows and share it with me?  If it is small enough, it can be uploaded here.  Use the 'Attachments and other options' link when you're composing your reply to this message and there you'll be able to upload your video.

Thanks,

-Kirk

Hi Kirk,

I made a video. It's VGA so 640x480 to keep it small. There's not a lot of detail, but as what I'm trying to show you isn't working there isn't a lot to see.

MacBook Pro 16"
Apple M2 Max
Memory 32 GB
Sequoia 15.5
Apple Studio Display and the Mac in Clamshell mode
I tried using it without the Apple Studio display and it still didn't work.

Thank you for the video.  The exact same operation works for me on the current release candidate builds.  If you can, download and test with them.

Please let me know if the problem still persists.

Hi Kirk,

Still not working for me using the candidate release. See new video. Now the tab moves to the other window but even though it shows as present in the tab row it won't open.

I've reached my limit of time to work on this today. I've got jobs tomorrow and Saturday so probably can't get back to this till Monday or Tuesday at this point. Thanks for looking into it.

One last follow up today. When I went to reset the program it looked like this with a "phantom" tab that didn't connect to anything.

best,
Simon

We've managed to reproduce in-house and I'm investigating.  I'll get you an updated build if I do fix the issue.

Awesome that you've replicated and that I'm not crazy. It's not the end of the world for me, but it will be great if you can fix it. I appreciate all your efforts. I'd be lost without PM.

The fix was simple enough and it will be in the next build of Photo Mechanic 2025.

Hi Kirk,

That's great. Thank you. I look forward to the fix. I don't use that feature all the time, but I don find it useful a few times a week.
