Ingest uses selected folder as destination folder
« on: June 28, 2025, 01:53:40 AM »
Hello

It would be nice if when opening the Ingest dialog (Command-G), the destination folder would be already set to the folder that is selected in the navigator window. Or a button in the Ingest dialog where you can set the primary/secondary destination folder to the selected folder in the navigator window with a button press. Or having this as an option in the settings 😊

Thanks and regards
Michael

I think I did a similar feature request of being able to ingest via contextual menu from navigator

That would be really nice. Then you can use folder name to write captions......

I understand the request, but let me offer a suggestion. You could use a variable to specify the destination folder. I use {datesortdash} {event} and in the ITPC template, put the event name, such as Blue Devils vs Red Dogs or Susan Smith, etc. When I ingest, I specify into folder with name, then use those variables. The beauty of that method is that if you forget to specify the destination folder, you won't be ingesting into the same location as the last digest. The date variable automatically creates a new folder. You can get even more detailed by using variables to create further subfolders, such as Argos/14 John Smith and Argos/21 Reggie Buck.  I advocate never changing the destination folder manually, but rather using variables to automatically create the ingest folder. I make far fewer mistakes by automating the process.

I use {datesort}-{client}-{job}, also does the trick.
Just need to remember to update info in JOB tab )
