PM Localization
« on: August 10, 2025, 05:17:34 AM »
Is there a way to fully localize PM to other languages without digging through .nib files and Xcode. If you could give us a table of menu items, settings and messages we as native speakers and PM users could come up with proper translation for the items.

No, that's not possible.

I'm fine with English interface and prefer to use it. But some people like it in their own language, so it could be a great option to have. I'm happy to help with translation

Max,

Not everything can be translated that way.  I think that's what you originally asked for?

There are a number of strings embedded in the cross-platform code that can't be modified in any way by a user.

So the question is then... if some of it can be translated this way, and some cannot, there should be a way on dev team side to implement translation if needed, right? Or is it that some strings are hard coded into the app and cannot be translated to multiple languages ?

Localization of Photo Mechanic for multiple languages is very possible from a coding standpoint.  There are other issues like documentation and customer support (mostly support) that is harder to achieve since we're such a small company with limited resources.

Well, that doesn't stop Capture One for example, all docs are in English mostly, but interface is available in many languages.
Plus don't forget that your user base is very loyal and multilingual

If there is a table of strings to translate, me and other native speakers could start working on it in our free time.
