Code Replacement Key Value in Column 3?
« on: Yesterday at 07:28:40 PM »
I have a client that is providing me a code replacement text file, but the key value is in column 3, not column 1.  They can't change the sequence of the columns.

I know I could pull the file into Excel and do a quick cut/paste to put column 3 into column 1, but thought I would ask if there was a way for PM to key off of a designated column other than column 1.  Saves me trying to do spreadsheet surgery on the go.

My terms on this are so generic that a forum search brought up tons of results that don't match what I am looking for.  After a bunch of search attempts, I thought it would just be faster to ask.

No. The program needs the files to be in a specific format to know what text to reference when it sees your delimiter character.

You'll have to manipulate the columns to get your codes (keys) into the first column.  If you don't have Excel, I think Google Sheets will be up to the task.
