Live Ingest not adding IPTC
« on: June 13, 2026, 09:04:21 AM »
Hi

I'm just trying to set up Live Ingest from my Nikon Z9 via FTP, but have an issue.

For some odd reason, PM is no longer adding the IPTC to my test images (normal ingest from a card is OK). It has worked, but now it refuses to add the data. Am I doing something wrong?

M5 MBP running Tahoe 26.5.1 Photo Mechanic Version 6.0, build 7285 (fb3e520)

Does applying the Metadata Template work in other situations? Can you post a screenshot of the Metadata Template?

This is a template I have previously used.

Yes. Importing from a card is OK.

Okay, I am unsure why this might be happening. Your settings look correct and the version of Photo Mechanic you are on has been out for over a year, so there's no reason that the program's behavior should have changed. It would probably be best if you gave us a call to troubleshoot this issue: +1-503-547-2888

Thank you for your reply.
I have just done some more testing.

I have tried another template, but it made no difference.

I noticed my Z9 had Protect if marked for upload set to on. I'm guessing this would lock transmitted images, preventing files from being renamed and adding the XMP. This is now turned off and has not made a difference.

I am really puzzled! I have tried my card reader, and it worked as it should.

I will try calling sometime, but I'm in the UK and the time difference could be an issue.

I have sorted the issue, but I'm not 100% sure how to fix it.

It's all to do with the folder structure that Photo Mechanic adds the XMP file and renames the files. I'm just trying to get my head around what I have changed.

Live Ingest Source Folders. Is this the location that the sent files go, before being moved to the destination folder?

Copy Photos: 'directly into destination folder root'. This seems to be the location where the XMP & file renaming is done?

What would have been the default settings?

It's the folder that the Live Ingest watches for images to ingest.

Yes, this is where the files end up when they have been ingested

The source list would have been empty, and the destination would have been not set. Copy Photos would have been set to "directly into destination folder root"
